Show cause notices to be issued for occupational licences in Qld

Reviewed required after assessor charged

The Minister for Industrial Relations Tom Barton said the Department of Industrial Relations will immediately issue show cause notices to all holders of occupational licences issued by a former accredited assessor in the Gladstone Rockhampton region.

The Minister for Industrial Relations Tom Barton today said the licences holders would be asked to show cause why their licence should not be cancelled. He said the scrutiny of licence holders in the region had followed an investigation and subsequent laying of charges against an accredited assessor.

He said DIR officers had first raised the matter of the alleged inappropriate issuing of occupational licences with police.

“The Department of Industrial Relations will also be advising the licence holders that they must be reassessed by other accredited assessors in the region,” he said.

Mr Barton said in the immediate region there are more than 80 accredited assessors.
