Australia regulator starts review on Air NZ stake buy in Virgin Blue

SYDNEY, Jan 21 (Reuters) - The Australian competition regulator, the ACCC, said on Friday it has started on an informal review on Air New Zealand buying a 14.9 percent stake in Australian rival Virgin Blue.

The regulator in its website asked interested parties to submit comments on the deal before Feb 4.

Air New Zealand on Thursday bought at least a $47 million stake in Australian budget carrier Virgin Blue and said it planned to raise its holding to 15 percent but had no plans for a full takeover. (Reporting by Narayanan Somasundaram; Editing by Ed Davies)
